A study Permit is issued by Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada that allows foreign nationals to receive education from a DLI (Designated Learning Institute) in Canada. The Study Permit visa also allows you to stay in Canada for the duration of your study program and, after it, if you are working. However, a Study Permit is not a visa and does not allow you entry into Canada. You will require a visitor visa or an eTA (Electronic Travel Authorization) to enter Canada.
You can apply for a study visa online from anywhere in the world or within Canada. You can also apply for a study permit after arriving in Canada.
The first step to applying for a Study Permit visa would be to get all the documents mentioned above ready. The next phase would be to apply online for the Study Permit Visa. You are only eligible to apply on paper on certain conditions. After successfully applying for the Study Permit Visa, you should keep checking the status of your Study Permit Visa on the IRCC website, wherein the information is updated regularly.
